Love their pizza, but dear lord, waited 25 minutes past the time when our take out was to be ready. Sat by the front counter. When I finally asked, was just told, maybe you didn’t hear the name. When I said No, that wasn’t it, was told that since we paid earlier, and the cashier didn’t mark it, that was the problem. Poor system. The customer is not the issue here.
The absolute best pizza without a doubt. We are from New York and moved to Fernandina 7 years ago and Moon River is definitely the best around here and beats some New York pizza places as well. The staff is always amazing and the atmosphere is perfect for a pizza place.
Tasty pizza with large serving sizes. This location stuck out when searching for food in the area. After having ordered takeout, I wish we would have eaten inside based on the interior. We ordered the "White pizza" and a calzone. Both items were great and beyond large enough for the amount of people we ordered for. My only complaint being the amount of garlic chunks on the pizza. The taste was awesome, but the garlic could be overwhelming at times. Would highly recommend to anyone in the area.
Have visited twice and both time the food was amazing. Great balance of flavors on these pizzas! We did “THE” pizza and trex this time along with the breadsticks. It’s like the perfect level of flavors in the ingredients and the cheese is cheeeeezy without being the only thing you taste or being wildly greasy/oily. The location doesn’t stand out as you’re driving by as it’s in a mostly empty strip anchored on the corner by a gas station. Inside, you have a menu on the wall to your left as well as some extras over the counter. You order at the counter and receive your drinks at that time too (soda, tea, beer & wine available). You’re given a table marker of sorts and pick your own seating. There are a couple TVs usually playing a game but sometimes other stuff (a family-friendly movie was playing during our Tuesday evening visit). There is also a lot of art hanging on the wall (all for sale!) Our teen especially enjoyed the music which seemed mostly throwbacks to 70s and 80s. So plenty to keep you occupied while you wait for your pizza/order to be brought out to you. If you order a slice for a kiddo and ask ahead of time, they’ll cut it up into smaller pieces before bringing it out. Staff all super nice & checked on us frequently to clear away anything and offer refills. Don’t overlook this one! Stop in!
We live in North Carolina & have family that lives in Amelia Island. Every time we visit, our first stop is Moon River! It’s been our regular spot in Florida for 15 years. Employees are always friendly and the pizza is always so delicious. We always get the white pizza & salads but have ordered others as well and they haven’t disappointed! We need a Moon River in NC!
We were visiting Fernandina Beach and decided to give them a try (and our fishing charter guide referred us there). It was the BEST pizza I’ve had, it was fabulous! The staff was great and the manager (I assume it was mgr) came to table to make sure our pizza and calzone were how we’d ordered them and they were perfect! I ordered the cauliflower crust because I like “thin and crispy” and it was spot-on! Sometimes cauliflower crust can be a little iffy but not this one....soooo good. My husband got a calzone (it was huge - enough for two! and it was so good). The dough was definitely made in house and had such good flavor. I ordered “the special” pizza but added green olives and artichoke hearts - highly recommend adding if you’ve never tried those add-ons. (I also ordered the Greek salad and it was yummy too!) 6 stars!
They had just opened on a stormy afternoon. Were very busy, but managed the line, thoroughly communicated with everyone, and of course, made some amazing pizza. We dine at both locations and love the T-Rex and the White Pizza. Family of 6.
From the road the signage is quite subdued. Only the neon beer signs in the windows give you a clue that the business is up and running. The staff were very polite and I was served my two slices of meat lovers pizza in a timely manner. The ovens cooked the pizza crust perfectly and I the overall taste was outstanding. The tables and booths were kept clean and each table had several containers of assorted pizza condiments all filled plenty. The beer was offered in a can, bottle or mug. It was served at the perfect temperature. There were psycadelic paintings which were done by the owner for sale around the dining area walls.. All in all minus it's poor signage I thought the service, menu and ambiance were all top notch.
